Ever wanted to brew your own beer but wasn’t sure how to start? Want to add some banana to your beer but you’re afraid of breaking the “Man Law” that prohibits fruit in beer? Maybe you’ve wanted to create a craft brew in honor of your favorite “Criminal Minds” character.
Brewed in Chicago, a startup company created to help people discover the craft beers availabl in the Windy City – and trust me there are plenty – is giving beer lovers that chance with the game “Craft Your Beer.”
According to their website, “Craft Your Beer” is an online came that will crowd-source beer ideas. It gives craft beer lovers a chance to put the ideas brewing in their heads and onto a digital format.
Folks will choose from different styles of beer, select ingredients (water, hops, barley and yeast) and add their own flavors. They also pick a name for their beer, design the logo and promote it.
Brewed in Chicago will pick the most popular beers and produce them for their taphouse where the public will test them and give feedback. The winner gets their beer brewed for the season where beer lovers will not only get to taste it at the taphouse, but also buy it in select stores.
This is an interesting concept. If you’re a novice at brewing, this game gives you a chance to build on a beer idea without the trial and error. If you’re a master brewmeister, you have a chance to create something new and challenge yourself. If you love beer and you’re an artist, you have the opportunity to express your creativity though your favorite type of brew.
If you would like to help this process along, the company has raised $6,501 (43 percent) of their $15,000 goal and the deadline is Nov. 5. Feel to go on their fundraiser page and kick in a contribution.
