You’ve seen the TV series, now drink the beer

Now that the Lannisters have solidified their place on the Iron Throne, it appears they have turned their attention to spreading their influence in the beer world.

According to USA Today, Brewery Ommegang and HBO have come together to produce a line of themed beers based on the Game of Thrones television series. With the series’ third season beginning on March 31, the brewery will release Iron Throne Blond Ale later this month.

In the article, brewmaster Phil Leinhart said the decision to release the Blonde Ale first was because of a Lannister (Joffrey Baratheon, son of Cersei Lannister) currently sitting on the throne.

There has been no word on any other subsequent beers available, though I’m sure there could be a Winter ale (for the Starks of the North) a wheat ale for the Kingsguard, a black IPA for the men on the wall and a Spring ale for the Tyrells.
